As a mother, I will never give up on my child. As a mother of a child who has autism, I will never give up hope.
I look into his eyes and I see all the potential that he has to offer to this beautiful world and I just know that one day the world can see what I see.

Everybody's a story teller

I will be the first to admit it, I am not the biggest fan of reading. If their is a movie about the book, I’ll watch the movie instead, even if the ending is different or the book was said to be better. That doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a book here and there, but I am guilty of not reading much to Bryce. When it comes to story telling time, Daniel was on top of that one.

Well, that’s all changed now, and mom’s the new story teller in this house! Reading just became more fun and engaging with interactive books for Bryce’s iPad. You’re not only reading the story, you become part of the story.

Like, seriously, who would of thought that you could blow onto your iPad and it would blow down the houses of the three little pigs? (Bryce’s favourite part, I might add.)

Or with the flick of your finger you can turn something ordinary, into extraordinary. It’s not new technology, but it honestly blows my mind how they put it into an app.

Interactive books really motivated me personally to want to read more to Bryce, and help keep the classics alive that I grew up with. I want to read him everything!

Oh, the places you’ll go and the books you will read when the skies the limit. Well that, and your devices battery life.

Thanks for reading,
Tanaya

  1. Your like me, I'm not a big bed time story kind of person. Prior to diagnosis I thought my sons lack of speech was due to me not reading to him. I need to find these stories! Which one can you blow things over with?? Little guy loves bubbles as I said.....but still is working on blowing hah

  3. I used to be, and sometimes I am, without interest on reading a book first vs the watching the movie. However, I am not very fond of using technology - internet, iphones, ipods, ipads - for entertainment either. I am more a TV kind of gal. I just say, if technology is making your interest in reading, any kind of form, is a good thing. I think we need to be inspired sometimes to find that kick and then there's no stop.

keep posting on the progress of your reading, I would like to be on the loop for when the time comes for me and my little one to experience it.

    cheers,

  4. @Afrodita Hey Mama And The City! Bryce's iPad is an educational tool before it's used for entertainment. Apps in itself have changed the way he learns, on so many levels, it's barely even comprehendable on how engaged he can be in an app compared to working with a behavioural consultant any day! Yes, there is an app for that! hehe

But I do agree, I am a little hooked into reading now. Expect a couple of book reviews coming later this month. Honest opinions on great books. Should be fun!

And start reading to your little one now! You can never start too late (in my case), or too early! :)
