As a mother, I will never give up on my child. As a mother of a child who has autism, I will never give up hope.
I look into his eyes and I see all the potential that he has to offer to this beautiful world and I just know that one day the world can see what I see.

Pets and Autism

We were one of those parents who wanted Bryce to grow up with a friend, a companion, a pet. The obvious choice for us was a cat.

Meet Pepper!

We’ve had her for almost 3 years now I think. She was a Christmas present for Bryce from Daniel and I. Actually, her and her brother, Salt, were presents (they both were just too cute, we couldn’t pick just one). Sadly, Salt is no longer with us as he ran away after a year and we are sure the wildlife got to him, but Pepper is still here and despite how much she keeps to herself, she really is loyal to Bryce.

Bryce is still learning how to be gentle with her, but she’s a very patient cat and has grown up with Bryce just the same and seems to know how to act around him. She never claws or bites him. You will almost always find her in our bedroom either curled up on the covers or hiding under the bed, but when it’s Bryce’s bedtime, she’s usually at the foot of his bed, in my opinion, watching over him.

Pets can teach a child responsibility, compassion, patience, and companionship.

Pets do not judge.
